Colourful Ghosting

The design aims to bring more commercial potential to Chinatown through the use of pattern. As the name of the work suggests, the design features a combination of pattern and dichroic panels using light to highlight the interaction of shadows and landscape, which creates a colourful outdoor space.  The 'colourful ghosting' is sleepless, making the most of natural light during the day, while at night it uses artificial light to transform the site into a splash of colour. The venue constantly attracts residents to interact with it through changes in light and colour.

In addition, it provides a grandstand lounge area, a store area and a performance area. During the day, the site serves as a market in Chinatown, providing more opportunities for the surrounding stores. At night, however, the colourful panels cast shadows that express the hustle and bustle of the event, so it can be rented for festival performances and shows. The venue uses lightweight and low-cost materials, so its model can be replicated and applied elsewhere.
