Centre for Nuclear Peace

The devastating aspects of wars are known by studying history but have not been felt by most.

While we are not prisoners of our past, we must ensure peace. To sustain peace individuals must be reminded of the adverse effects of war and the cost of peace.

Thereby casting light on the ‘casualties of peace’ especially those who have suffered and continue to from the development and testing of nuclear weapons in the local and global context.

This thesis proposes to architecturally raise consciousness of the ‘slow violence’ from the atomic era and its ongoing suffering.

The centre for nuclear peace aims to raise the social consciousness around nuclear testing and warfare in the local and global context. The architectural design was conceived by studying multiple nuclear narratives, abstracting themes, and keywords to derive form and drawing geographical references from sites of atomic devastation.
