The thesis proposes the development of geothermal hot spring with commercial value at the distinctive coastal landscapes of Cape Bridgewater, Portland, without depriving the values of nature and conservation. The project demonstrates how commercial hot spring development blends into the agenda of land conservation and regeneration through landscape and energy innovation, which ultimately shifts the conventional agriculture-based development of Portland into an ecotourism-driven regenerative future. The design strategy is formed through a balance of coastal headlands restoration, natural hot spring sanctuary design, and geothermal-powered vegetation as both a local sustainable business and green infrastructure facilitating the ecotourism experiences. The design programs embrace the nature, the community and the culture of Portland, that together forms the identity of the place and creates a unique hot spring and ecotourism experiences for visitors.
