Professor Willis presented a guest lecture on British Colonial networks of architecture hosted by the School of Architecture, Planning and Policy Development at the Institut Teknologi Bandung, and had the opportunity to share ideas, connect with alum and meet the students who are shaping the future in Indonesia.

The Faculty enjoys a strong and longstanding partnership with ITB, running regular Travelling Studios for ABP students to visit and study collaboratively in Bandung, and welcoming ITB architecture and urban planning students to Melbourne, facilitating a deep cultural and academic exchange, and equipping Indonesian and Australian graduates for international built environments careers.

She also had the opportunity to catch up with alum Budi Faisal who gave her a tour of his office RLA Studio which specialises in bamboo architectural, landscape and urban design projects.

Expanding on this close relationship with built environment discourse and expertise in Indonesia, the University of Melbourne recently signed a Study Abroad agreement with Universitas Gadjah Mada Department of Architecture and Planning in Yogyakarta and the Faculty welcomed the first two undergraduate urban planning students to Melbourne this semester.

Both institutions in Indonesia are two of the most prestigious and internationally respected in their teaching and research of architecture and urban planning and the Faculty is thrilled to have collaborations with these leading design establishments.
