The Bridge Precinct

The Bridge Precinct showcases sustainable technologies and an urban farm, providing greater connectivity for the local community and surrounding businesses.

Providing Sunshine with a much needed pedestrian crossing south of the station, the Bridge Precinct showcases sustainable technologies and provides the local community with an urban farm. Located on the western edge of the rail corridor, the Bridge Precinct links to the bike path as well as providing a connection to the other side of the rail tracks. The urban farm supplies produce for the café, markets, and food stalls under the bridge, and for surrounding businesses. Vertical axis wind turbines line the bridge, providing power generation for the site. Rainwater harvested from the bridge and surrounding rooftops is used to irrigate the urban farm. Local schools and businesses make use of the teaching space located under the bridge.
