Urban Canopy
A flexible system of canopies that create an urban plaza in the Sunshine Station forecourt.
The Urban Canopy is a series of flexible structures that creates a gateway for Sunshine. Located in the forecourt of the train station, the village of canopies connects to the surrounding restaurants and food retailers. The canopies are used as cafés, market stalls, galleries, art spaces, and community spaces. Sustainable techonologies used on site include rainwater harvesting, solar power generation, and urban agriculture. Some of the canopies are permanent, while others are flexible and temporary in nature. The Urban Canopy has provided a new town centre for Sunshine.
