Helmut Kinzler

Helmut joined Zaha Hadid Architects in 1998 as a designer and project architect and has subsequently worked on a series of important architectural, design and exhibition projects, including the Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art in Cincinnati, USA, the Phaeno Science Centre in Wolfsburg, and the ‘Tokyo Blossoms’ exhibition in Tokyo, Japan. His current focus is the development and the realization of high-end residential projects.

Besides his work as Associate Director, Helmut founded the company’s VR department in 2015 for researching and developing the technology for applications in the practice. ZHVR Group have developed solutions for the practice’s emerging VR design workflow - including immersive design techniques and networked visualisation tools for internal design evaluation and external presentations.

The department’s main focus is the development of a comprehensive understanding of cybernetic architecture. The ZHVR Group has published articles and essays, and is involved in a Horizon2020 multidisciplinary research project. Additionally, the group has contributed projects to several public exhibitions showcasing the VR technology and the practice’s design work.
