Submission Process

Please email all submissions to ableist-cities-2024@unimelb.edu.au.

Submission of abstracts

Please submit your abstract, describing your paper, project or lived experience presentation. This should not exceed 250 words. Your submission must include five keywords to represent the content of your work. Each abstract will be sent to two referees for a peer review process. Based on this review, an abstract will be determined as either accepted or rejected. The deadline for abstract submission is Monday 22 April 2024 (23:59 AEST).

Submission of full papers, projects of lived experience narratives for initial review

Authors who have had their abstracts accepted are invited to submit full papers, projects or lived experience narratives for peer review consideration. Authors of accepted abstracts will have the option of presenting only. Please submit your full papers by the initial review deadline, Monday 1 July 2024 (23:59 AEST).

Full papers should adhere to the following guidelines:

  • They must not exceed 6,000 words (including citations and references)
  • Authors should format their papers using the provided template.

Submissions will undergo a peer review by two members of the Scientific Committee. Following this review, papers may be:

  • Accepted as is.
  • Accepted with minor revisions.
  • Accepted with major revisions.
  • Rejected.

Submission of papers for final review

After the initial review process, authors of papers that have been accepted, whether with minor or major revisions, are invited to revise their manuscripts accordingly. The final deadline to submit the full, revised papers is Monday 15 September 2024 (23:59 AEST)

Regarding the presentation and publication of papers deemed acceptable, authors will be invited to present their work in person at the conference. At least one author of each accepted paper must register for the conference to ensure their presence for the presentation. Additionally, authors will have the option to make their paper accessible as a pre-publication working paper or to publish it as part of the indexed conference proceedings formally.
