Biography

Godwin is a Lecturer in Property and has taught over 400 students in his career across two countries, Ghana and Australia. He takes a student-centric approach. His teaching breaks down theoretical knowledge into real-world applications drawing from his vast industry and consulting experience, including the African Development Bank, the Ministry of Works and Housing (Ghana) and the National Development Planning Commission (Ghana). This hands-on approach enriches students’ learning experiences and prepares them for the challenges of the property sector.

Godwin’s primary interest is in property economics and urban development, focusing on three interconnected themes:

  • Sustainable property investments, including emerging asset classes like student housing
  • Property technology (including blockchain applications)
  • (Affordable) housing

He has published in prestigious Q1 journals, such as Cities and Journal of Property, Planning and Environmental Law, and International Housing Policy, which underscores his dedication to research excellence.

Godwin joins the University of Melbourne from the Unison Housing Research Lab at RMIT University. He analysed longitudinal and administrative data from six of the largest homelessness service providers in Metropolitan Melbourne. This led to a better understanding of support users and insights to optimise support service strategies. Godwin is a member of the Australian Property Institute.
