Biography

Dr Mehran Oraee is a lecturer in Building Information Modelling (BIM) within the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning and has broad research and industry expertise in the built environment and construction sector. His research is mainly focused on BIM, Digital Engineering, Construction Technologies, and Construction Management areas and has published quality research papers in reputable international journals and conferences in the construction context. Moreover, he has over 10 years of experience in the construction industry in Australia and overseas, working in various positions as a builder, project supervisor and coordinator.

Mehran’s PhD was based in BIM and investigated collaboration activities in the BIM process within the Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operation (AECO) industry. It involved the development of an integrated model for the AECO industry professionals and BIM managers, in particular, to enhance collaboration in BIM-enabled organisations and construction projects.

Mehran teaches into both the Construction Management and Architecture disciples and is the subject coordinator of the ‘BIM Specialisation’ subjects including CONS30001 and CONS30002, as well as the Construction research subjects including ABPL90358 and ABPL90359 at the Melbourne School of Design.
