Batter, Bake & Build: Melbourne’s Great Architectural Baking Competition

Bake Off

To celebrate 150 years of built environment education, the University of Melbourne and Melbourne School of Design are hosting a Great British Bake Off style competition. The brief: to recreate Melbourne’s architectural icons in baked form. Competition entrants range from students and academics to members of the general public.
Judged by a panel of prominent members from architectural and baking disciplines, be sure to catch the action and participate in judging the People's Choice Award early Sunday afternoon.

Robotics Lab

In 2019 the MSD Robotics Lab is taking a new direction with a focus on the application of extrusion technologies (such as clay 3D printing) to architectural and construction fabrication tasks. On Open Day witness our impressive team of robots in action as they mill and print clays, plastics and even ice a cake!

Australia Modern: From the Iconic to the Everyday Exhibition

Aus Modern

Taking inspiration from the latest book on Australian modernism Australia Modern: Architecture, Landscape & Design edited by Hannah Lewi & Philip Goad and published by Thames & Hudson, this exhibition celebrates twentieth-century architecture through newly commissioned photographs and archival images that vividly capture how modernism has shaped Australian society.

New Student Precinct: Furniture Feedback Exhibit

New Student Precinct

The New Student Precinct is being Co-Created with students, every step of the way. There furniture installation will be showcasing several pieces of innovative furniture for consideration in the New Student Precinct, with many types of furnishings on display; indoor study desks, outdoor seating and collaborative work spaces. There friendly team of student ambassadors will be there to field your questions and gather your feedback from 10am - 4pm
