This lack of social support or meaningful connection can lead to symptoms of addiction where one will rely on an object or behavior to fill that void. The range of what people are getting addicted to has also been increase as a result of our modern environment being stuffed with craving inducing simuli.

The CHC aims to strengthen communities through recovery and intervention, developing new meaning and purpose in one’s life as one grows beyond the effects of addiction. The CHC placement is decentralized and the housing interweaved with each other in a grid like form, creating a sense of exploration and opportunities for unexpected interactions. The caverns level fosters a safe private space for visitors and residence to stroll through. The hills offer a place of play and exploration. The sky creates a sense of presence and the clouds become an analogy of breaking free from the cyclical nature of recovery and relapse
