The Museum of Control precipitated itself through the investigation of how a lone bag left behind on a train has the capacity to bring an entire transport network to a standstill. While the idea of someone leaving a bag behind seems innocent enough, past events have lent a sinister undertone to such forgotten items. Beginning to understand this led to the concept of control, and the multitude of ways in which our lives and thoughts are steered by the world around us. The museum explores the intricate layers of control and takes us on a journey from a personal exploration of self to the larger contexts of situation, society and nature.

With strict control measures placed on many of our lives in recent months and the worldwide challenge against long standing institutionalised biases that exist at so many levels in our society, the exploration of these issues becomes essential. The museum can be used as a tool for learning and critical thinking that facilitates discourse not only within society, but within one’s self.
