Urban Forest
Phytoremediation creates an urban forest, ready for integrated development.
This design is centred on using phytoremediation to clean the site and planting trees and native grasses as a carbon sequestration strategy. The design sees that the phytoremediation process will take 3 years and so during this process a native urban forest is grown that will act as a carbon sink for the city. The technology is highly visible and therefore able to offer educational, recreational and aesethic benefits to the city. As phytoremediation of the site is completed, development is introduced so that the final result is that development exists within an established urban forest.
