Bug Concept

Compost Production System for 2030.

The Bug Concept is one of the outcomes of the Greenspot Project, which focused on how residents in a community could share food and garden waste around their neighbourhood.  The Bug uses solar power and rainwater harvesting to produce quality compost and compost tea in a much shorter period than that of traditional hot- or cold-composting methods, allowing small-scale urban agriculture to thrive in suburban backyards.  The main principle is to make composting of household waste as easy as possible, both in the process and in the distribution.  Drawers and doors are designed to make using the system physically undemanding, and indicators help users understand whether the composting process is working well or may need some intervention.
