Elevator access

The Design Gallery

  • The Design Gallery lift is located on the Ground floor of the Glyn Davis building. It is opposite the main building lifts.
  • If you require elevator access, please contact msd-exhibitions@unimelb.edu.au or contact Security on 8344 6666.

Basement

  • This lift is located between the Singapore theatre and the Malaysian theatre in the basement of the Glyn Davis building.
  • Access the elevators by pressing the button on the wall next to the elevators.

Basement 2

  • Elevator access is available from the ground floor at the north-east entrance to the basement theatres (near Castros cafe). It is also accessible via the basement of the Glyn Davis building in the north-east part of the B117 foyer.
  • This elevator is smaller than the main elevators in the building, but can still accommodate wheelchairs and mobility aids. This lift can be used to access the B115 foyer or the front of the B117 theatre.

Fire alarms

  • In the unlikely event of a fire alarm, individuals with limited mobility should go to the nearest fire exit. If you cannot use  the stairs, please wait for first responders inside the escape stairwells, which are pressurised to ensure smoke will not enter them.
  • If you need an accessible route out of the building, please wait for first responders in the pressurised escape stairwells as the elevators will not be working.
  • The alarm will trigger automatically, and patrons should follow the instructions. The first alarm will be a "prepare to evacuate" alarm, followed by an "evacuate now" alarm. In the event of a building evacuation the evacuation point is Concrete Lawn / University Plaza to the west of the building.
