Natalie Miles

Senior Tutor - Research & Pedagogy Support, BEL+T

Biography

Natalie is an experienced architect, educator and researcher. Her current role with BEL+T facilitates research outputs both within the BEL+T team and in collaboration with the wider faculty. This role seeks to engage in the continuous evolution of built environment education through research in pedagogy development and learning design within the faculty.

Natalie is currently completing a PhD with a focus on Social Infrastructure networks, including schools. Her (in progress) research is associated with the ARC Linkage project Building Connections: Schools as Community Hubs with Learning Environments applied Research Network. Her interest in Social Infrastructure is also what drives her design studio teaching, as it incorporates many of her values such as social equity, environmental responsibility, and sustainable urbanism through collaboration and connection. She is also interested in exploring new ways of both teaching and practicing architecture, which ties closely with her role in BEL+T within the multi-disciplinary Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning.
