Teacher Responsibilities
As with all school excursions, the duty of care and responsibility for supervision and behaviour management of students travelling to, during and travelling back to school from a Glyn Davis Building excursion rests with the accompanying staff members from your school. Please read the Cultural Safety expectations. On the day of the program, the visiting teacher will also be asked to sign the Attending Teacher Cultural Safety document.
We also ask that you inform parents/carers and students about the Design Gallery exhibition content and learning program in accordance with the information provided on this webpage and accompanying resources.
If you have any safety concerns while on campus, please contact University Security at any time by calling 834 46666 or 1800 246 066 (free call). For any life-threatening situation, always call Victorian emergency services first via 000.
Supervision
We ask that the number of supervising staff from your school meet the Department of Education and Training Supervision requirements for day excursions of 1 to 20 staff-student ratio with a minimum of 2 staff.
Bus drop-off zone
The Glyn Davis Building bus drop-off zone is located on Tin Alley, off Swanston Street. This is a shared drop off zone. Please note there is no bus parking area available at the Glyn Davis Building.

The nearest tram stop is Stop 1 Melbourne University on routes 1, 3, 3a, 5, 6, 16, 64, 67 & 72. - Train:
The nearest train station is Parkville, use station exit 1 on Grattan Street. - Bus:
Bus route 202 stops nearby on Swanston Street and routes 202 and 207 stop on Lygon Street.
Accessibility
If you or your students need assistance with accessibility, please provide details at the time of booking.
Throughout the building, pathways are 1.2m wide and step-free access is provided. Seating is available at all levels.
Accessible spaces inside the building and on campus
- There are gender neutral accessible toilets located behind the lifts on each floor of the Glyn Davis Building.
- The faculty offers a dedicated quiet room located in Room 353 (Level 3). Facilities include a changing table, armchair, sink and two power points.
- Hearing loops are available in Theatre B117 (Basement level), Theatre 120 and Theatre 121 (Level 1), as well as computer labs and flexible teaching spaces.
- Learning Spaces Support provides a list of access capabilities and features for every room in the Glyn Davis Building.
- Use Maps to search for accessibility features within the Glyn Davis Building and across our Parkville campus, including accessible toilets and low sensory spaces.

Lunch and breaks
There are plenty of freely accessible outdoor areas across the campus, including the paved area with benches outside the Glyn Davis Building, the Student Precinct Amphitheatre close to the gallery, and the Oculus at Melbourne Connect, near Science Gallery. A searchable map of the campus is available.
