Semester 2 2017 Studio 27
Rolling Out the Welcome Mat
Peter Hogg
Studio Outline:
Melbourne University is developing a new Student Precinct extending from Gate 8 on Grattan Street to act as “Welcome Mat” to students and to the wider life of the city. The Welcome Mat studio will develop designs for this precinct to create a sense of arrival and of place, as well as a new focal point for student life on campus. The student design projects for this Studio will form a gateway into the campus from Grattan Street and will seek to be part of a dialogue about the future of the city and the pace of the university in the city.
