FIRE! Mount Macedon CFA Base

Fire! Mount Macedon CFA Base

Victoria is the most fire prone area in the world. This studio will develop designs for the upgrade of the existing Country Fire Authority (CFA) building at Mount Macedon, as well as developing a design for a new CFA building at the same location. The CFA Summer Studio will be an intensive, 7 week workshop based program involving field trips, and the participation of members of the Mount Macedon CFA, who will act as real clients for the project design.

The CFA Base Summer Studio will take a realistic, practical and professional approach to design issues. We will also engage with a range of expert consultants to ensure that the building can be built and perform as needed.

  • There will be a day long site excursion on Friday January 6th.

The studio outcomes include:

  • an understanding of design for bushfire survivability,
  • and understanding of design for universal accessibility,
  • a demonstrated ability to work with structural design and,
  • an understanding of environmental design.
  • design excellence.
